My thoughts: This was my first book by Katy Upperman and I can safely say it will not be my last! I do admit it took me a bit to get into the book, but once I was in I couldn’t wait see where Katy took us. We follow the story of Callie a teenage girl trying to find herself, and regain her life back after months of struggling since her younger sister passed away in a tragic accident. Once she finds her light will she let it in or push it away. I really loved how we seen Callie evolve throughout the book, finding who she was and letting go. I was surprised to see a little mystery/paranormal in there, which was actually very fitting in the story. I really felt Katy captured the emotions of someone/family grieving. I loved how kind, patient and sweet Tucker was, he really cared for Callie which you could easily tell. My only complaint is I felt the ending was a little rushed, I would of liked to see couple more chapters. Overall though I really enjoyed the book, I would definitely recommend it!
It hurts physically, standing in this house without my sister, like a piece of my soul being slowly excised – How the Light Gets In
